Sonora Resort - Grizzly Bear Tour - 2400x1154

Wilderness Adventures Grizzly Bear Tours

Notoriously elusive, Grizzly bears make a rare appearance from August to October when they descend on the river to feast on spawning salmon. Here, when they are at ease in their natural habitat and intent on a task, we catch a glimpse of the great bears that few get to see.

The journey begins with a short voyage up the Inlet by vessel, through the Arran rapids to the river. Guests meet their experienced Homalco First Nation guide and travel by vehicle, through the beautiful moss-covered rainforest to various bear-viewing towers on the banks of the river. Throughout the tour, you will be treated to stories and knowledge from the guide about bears, salmon, the Homalco people and their long-standing ties to the land.

Typically, many bears are seen on this tour. However, as we are in nature, it is not possible to guarantee a sighting. To best enjoy this tour, guests must be able to comfortably board and exit the vessel, walk up and down a steep dock ramp and stand for extended periods while viewing the bears. You must also board and exit the shuttle van and be able to climb a flight of stairs multiple times.

Grizzly Tours are available from August 15 to October 15 and are subject to availability.
