Grounds Maintenance
The Ground’s Maintenance position will have a passion for excellence in guest service and a strong background in horticulture. They are responsible for refuse management through garbage collection and disposal. Incumbent is also responsible for the maintenance of the outdoor areas of the resort, and will work alongside the gardeners as directed by the Head Gardener. They will provide clientele with a superior resort experience as compared to other resort facilities in the high end or premium class travel markets.

Education & Experience:
One (1) year of experience in a similar role.
- Thorough understanding of the operations of gardening and horticulture; experience in a live-in resort environment is preferred.
- Able to safely operate power equipment such as line trimmers, hedge trimmers, chain saws and blowers an asset.
- High School Diploma required. Any additional education or experience in the Hospitality, Tourism, or related fields would be an asset.
- Must be fluent in English, second language an asset.
- First Aid & AED certificates are an asset.
Duties, Responsibilities & Tasks:
- Daily Operations
- Demonstrate desired service behaviors in accordance with Relais and Chateaux expectations.
- Refuse and recycling management.
- Systematic garbage collection across resort.
- Operating incinerator and completing burn cycles.
- Lawn mowing, weed eating and hedge trimming in large outdoor areas including heli-pad and staff accommodations on occasion may be required.
- Work with Health & Safety Officer to ensure resorts walking trails are safe and accessible for guests.
- Ensure pathways are free of obstacles such as large rocks, branches, etc.
- Continue to improve appearance and function of paths.
- Keep garden and landscape area free of garbage / debris.
- Assist the dock team with bi-weekly deliveries of food, beverages and resort supplies.
- Assist maintenance or dock crew as requested.
- Maintain tools and ensure equipment is in good order.
- Assist with maintenance or other departments as requested by direct manager.
- Ensure effective working relationships and clear communication is maintained with all colleagues and departments.
- Ensure that all equipment, fixtures, and furniture of the department are kept in the best repair possible and are used in a safe and proper manner in coordination with the Maintenance Manager.
- Drive small electric vehicles around the resort.
Company and Department Responsibilities
- Recognize that Sonora Resort is a service-oriented organization and act accordingly.
- Ensure good communication daily with the department manager on all issues, particularly those affecting customer services, employee relations and the economical operation of the department.
- Keep department manager informed on all matters that may affect the operation of Sonora Resort & London Drugs or on the attitudes of its employees.
- Reflect sound employee relations and a positive attitude towards Sonora Resort & London Drugs.
- Understand and adhere to all guidelines as set out in company policies.
- Maintain a professionally groomed appearance that reflects positively on the company.
- Perform any other reasonable duty or assignment requested by the department or General Manager.
