18 December 2024 French Toast Dredge Recipe
Ingredients:
Sliced Brioche Bread – 1 Loaf
Whole Milk – 750ml
Whole Eggs - 10
White Sugar – 200ml
Star Anise – ½ Star
Nutmeg – 5ml
Cinnamon – 1 stick
Orange Zest – 1 Orange
Grand Marnier – 50m
Method:
In a small pot combine the milk, star anise, nutmeg, cinnamon, orange zest and sugar. Bring to a simmer, turn off the heat and cover for 10 minutes to infuse. Strain this mixture, cool completely, whisk together in a mixing bowl with the remaining ingredients.
Soak slices of brioche in the French toast mixture for about 30 seconds each side, until they are saturated.
Heat a large skillet over medium heat, add a small amount of butter and oil to the pan and heat until butter starts to bubble. Add soaked bread and cook until golden and crisp on both sides.
Serve with fresh berries, jam and maple syrup. Enjoy!
